About the Program
Tigramuna (ARIA Award nominee) has for the past 26 years presented one the best school music incursions across Australia and Asia. It's new program "Sounds & Rhythms of Latin America" presents haunting original melodies alongside driving rhythms, capturing the cultural richness and authenticity of Latin American music. Tigramuna performs a wide range of traditional and contemporary instruments showcasing the music of many Latin American countries including: Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Cuba. At no extra cost, the program offers the option request some unique Activities & Resources (see below) as well as the opportunity to have Tigramuna's leader and composer visit your school, to introduce the music to your teachers and students (see below "Carlos in the Classroom")
Tigramuna's concert is a 50- 60 minute live music performance (including question time).
Activities & Resources
Tigramuna's school concerts includes singing, dancing and on-stage student participation with children playing instruments alongside the band.
It's leader Carlos Villanueva (BMus CQCM; USyd PhD Music Composition studies; currently undertaking a Master of Teaching) has prepared rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, listening and movement activities for each of the core musical pieces in the program offering teachers additional resources for teaching classroom music and a greater insight into Latin American music.

Classroom & School Band Arrangements
Upon request, Carlos can also create and tailor musical arrangements for any of the core pieces in the program for any school or classroom ensemble or band. These arrangements can be used post-incursions as follow up material or to rehearse prior to Tigramuna's incursion so your school or classroom ensemble can feature in the concert playing alongside Tigramuna! |
Carlos in the Classroom
At no extra cost, Tigramuna's band leader and composer Carlos Villanueva can visit your school and lead the teaching of his music to your students and teachers thus sharing his ideas and invaluable insights into the teaching of musical concepts through Latin American music. Carlos' 13 years of experience teaching music in the classroom together with his first hand knowledge of Tigramuna's music and Latin American music makes for a powerful and inspiring learning experience for all. Carlos can visit your school before or after Tigramuna's concert. |
